Dealing with Fertility Threat: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

I know there’s something wrong with my body when every girls of my age have their monthly menstrual cycle and complain about their menstrual cramps while i have none. When they were complaining about the price of sanitary I silently praying for my AF to come. While most of the girls of my age don’t have excessive hairs on their body, I’m dealing with it.While they are skinny and sexy but complaining they are fat,I am dealing with fast weight gain. Since I was young and getting married was not yet on mind,I ignored the symptoms.

Then, way back 2014 my long time boyfriend now turned husband told me that I was amazing because he never heard me complained about menstrual cramps. At the back of my mind,Because i never had menstruation flow again since the 19forgotten.I cant recalled that time when was the last time I had one. My boyfriend statement was a go signal for me to check an OB.

I went to OB and she prescribed me contraceptive pills.I felt that the OB was not really interested or concerned about me so I did not came back to her.

On 2016,I made my research to Dr.G, type my symptoms and the PCOS thing came up. All the PCOS symptoms matches to my symptoms so i look for Fertility Endocrinologist OB gyne. She asked me if I wanted to conceived now or later, because the prescription will depend on my answer. I was on the height of 25 that time so I answered later,it can still wait.I still want to enjoy my freedom. So she prescribed me contraceptive,Diane because Iwas hairy and to regulate my menses.I took Diane for 6months and as expected, I have smooth menstruation flow. When I stop taking the pills my menstruation stop also. And while taking the pills I gained weight.Underwent several testing and find out that my right ovary have cyst, and eggs were smaller than normal.According to the OB,Conceiving a child is still possible but difficult.

When you have PCO,a malfunction in your body chemistry keeps your egg from receiving the necessary growth signal from your brain.Instead of maturing and releasing, they remain inside their shell and die. When this happens, the follicles(the shell in which your egg grows)swell with fluid and develop into cysts. Each time another of your eggs is trapped in this manner, another cyst forms, until eventually your ovary is so overloaded it begins to enlarge, often becoming as big as a grapefruit.
Caused by Hormonal imbalance that is constant and not related to the menstrual cycle, Polycystic Ovarian disease can cause this symptoms:
Menstrual Irregularities
Excess Body Hair
Obesity
Inability to conceive

Reference: Getting Pregnant What Couples need to know right now

Fast forward, this guy proposed to me and i was shooked!!The possibility of not conceiving a child came to my mind.Explained everything to him and still want to marry me.Then to make the long story short we get married.
Here’s the hardest part.
Several months after the wedding,Most of the couple are expected to get pregnant and have their first born .But,what if your not one of the most of the couple that easily gets pregnant? And unfortunately, belong to the group with difficulty of conceiving despite of TTC.
People keep on asking when will I get pregnant?!
Why are you not yetΒ  pregnant? Mistakenly judge as pregnant woman because of big tummy. Why are you so fat?

Husband being joke as weakling for not impregnating his wife with in two months of marriage.Husband playing with children and tellingΒ  he loves children.Your father asking for a grandchild because they were tired having a cats and dogs and wanted a real baby. It’s so sad and breaking my heart.Your friends getting pregnant having their baby bumped posted on my news feed, Don’t get me wrong. I am happy for them,it just that there’s a pinch in my heart.

That’s why news about people who threwΒ  their baby on the garbage, people who killed their baby, people who exchanged their baby for Php1000 always breaks my heart. There always someone out there who wanted a baby but cannot conceived, but those people easily get it as if it was nothing?!

For those people who suffers from PCOS, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I know exactly how you feel.I know God has a beautiful promise, and will keep holding on to it.Because God’s plan is always the best.

He honors the childless wife in her home
He makes her happy by giving her a children
Praise the Lord
Psalm 113:9

That what on Mellie’s mind.

Now it’s your turn to tell what’s on your mind.
